Three Seashells - Action/Written

[Ariel's closet is getting ridiculously full. With every piece of clothing that got dirty, she got a new one rather than washing it, because the washing machine was a mystery that she couldn't figure out and didn't really want to figure out. But forty dresses and other such things in her closet? This is a little too much.

So, Ariel's in the back of the kitchen where the washer and dryer are, and she's got a frown and a squint on her face as she leans to try to figure this out. The clothes go in... here, right? Right. That's the only place they can go. And then... This detergent stuff goes in with them. How much goes in...?

Surely, the more that goes in, the cleaner it'll be, right?

...

Well.

Twenty minutes later, the entire first floor and even the bottom of the stairs of Community Housing 4 is absolutely covered with soap suds. Ariel's by the entrance of the kitchen, on her knees and trying desperately to get the bubbles back into the kitchen. It's... mostly a futile effort, so she holds her hair with both hands, unaware that she just got bubbles in it, and then she slides across the suds to get to her journal on the counter.

The image shows her looking off to the side awkwardly, before she smiles widely and writes. She's... trying to be innocent, like she did nothing wrong, but... ahaha...]

~~Does~~ ~~How~~ Could someone tell me how the clothing cleaner works? Is that what it's called?

And [...] how to clean up a lot of [...] bubbles?

[... Aaah, Sanji.

Ariel gives a sheepish smile and switches from written to video, and she just. Turns the journal around to show him the kitchen.

And the hallway.

... Yup. It's a lot.]

[Sanji makes a strangled noise that resembles half-laugh and half-sob at that. It's like a mine field of bubbles. You could drown in them]

Well... [Just look at him fight to keep a straight face] Why don't you, uh....

[... What do you do with a floor full of bubbles? In the far reaches of his mind, he can see Usopp gleefully declaring the disaster an opportunity for sponge skating.] Mopping them up is an option.

[Okay back to writing:]

Mopping?

Is this what you use?

Yeah, like that! That and a bucket.

Have you considered that this might not be such a bad thing? Very entertaining for kittens and small children.

Ah. That's been difficult for me too--adjusting to all the new technology here. It's always best to ask someone for help who knows what they're doing.

[He looks back at her, noting her glance, then sets down the mop, opens one of the cabinets and pulls out a dishrag.]

Here. You can wipe off the suds that got on the furniture. But go slow and be careful where you step.

[She lowers her head and frowns a little, as if to get that name and number down in her head. Carousel Boutique, house thirty-three... After that, though, she brightens up, and she nods. Yes! She'll have to go by there!

... When there aren't any more bubbles on the floor, at least.]

Towels and buckets. All right!

[Luckily, Ariel has been here long enough to know what those are. There are a few kitchen towels, but otherwise, she ends up having to go back to her room and grabbing all of her bathroom towels, too. And even that doesn't seem to be enough.

... But what does she do with the bucket? It's just sitting there...]

Let me look.

[With that, she leaves her journal to look for it.

... Well, she does find a broom. But it doesn't seem to be good for gathering bubbles, and it doesn't look quite like the picture. The resemblance is uncanny, but it doesn't bend that much at the end. So, she keeps looking, and - ah, that must be it.

When she returns, she holds up the mop to the journal to let him look at it, though wavers a bit thanks to how much her balance was thrown with that movement.

Is this it?]

[Yeaaah, she'll just. Hold up her hand toward the washing machine, shrug and shake her head. Really, she's not sure what happened! It's not like she's the one who caused it or put too much soap in! Not at all! She's totally innocent.]

Clothing cleaner? [She must have meant washing machine. This girl sounds in distress and it probably wouldn't be a good thing if soap was just left all over the floor.]

Do you need help cleaning? I'm in CH5. I can be there shortly. If you want.

[A rag, huh? Ariel looks a little put out. She wanted to try out this mop thing!

Buuuut she nods, and shrugs to herself. Maybe this'll be easier on her. So, she takes a step and - FFFFFFFFFFFF her back foot just about slides out from under her.

...

Yeah, she can see why she needs to be careful. She managed to hold on to the cabinet and not fall, but still.]

Ariel. And don't worry, I'll get this cleaned in no time!

[...]

It'll just take forever to do. [SIGH. Well, she's the one who caused this...]

And a bucket. Okay.

[There's a pause as she grabs both of these things and sets them by the counter. Success!

...]

Now what do I do with them?

Kittens? [She has not heard of these things.]

If you want to help?

[Because there is a lot and she's sure not many people would want to help if they saw it.]

[There's a minute's pause between her question and Sanji's answer, as the chef is trying to imagine Ariel diligently mopping up all that water by herself, when she's never used one before and has made a mess that would make anyone else shrink back in horror.

... No, no. This is not going to work.]

Use the mop to absorb the water, and then drain it back into the bucket. But I think it might be easier to show you. [GETTING TO HIS FEET.] You don't mind if I help out, Ariel-chan?

[It wouldn't be the first time Jigen had to clean up some sort of ridiculous mess! At least he would be able to show her how to use a washing machine so this could be avoided next time.]

Sure. I'll be right over. [Pause.] I'm Jigen by the way.

[Mr.Man to the rescue! He'll be grabbing a mop and bucket on the way out of CH5. Maybe a plastic box to put the clothes. When he shows up, he's taking off his shoes and socks, then rolling up his pants legs in preparation. He can only smile at the situation, as much of a chore it was about to become.]

Never used one before, huh?

I think I could use it.

[If she could speak, she'd sound more sheepish than she's ever felt. But all she can do is just smile awkwardly as she finishes the last few words and look off to the side. Aaah, this would be fun if she didn't feel like she just mess up something big.]

[Heck yeah, a lady is in need? Sanji might burst from his own excitement. He calls out, voice now honey-sweet] Then if my dear Ariel-chan calls, I shall answer~!! Wait a few moments for my arrival~!

[He knows where she lives ~~I assume~~, and wastes no time in rushing over, reassured he can handle this task. After all, she already showed him what it looks like! Between the two of them and whoever else offers a helping hand, they'll get this cleaned up, is what he's thinking as he reaches the stair well that will take him to the first floor]

[A stairwell that is covered in soggy suds.

... Right. Let's do this.]

Ariel-chaaaaan! [He calls her name in case she's somewhere nearby, but still picks his way up the slippery stairs. Shit, this is a hazard. By the time he's on the appropriate floor and closing in on the kitchen entrance, his hands are braced out for balance, in a callback to Ariel when she first was learning how to walk.]

[His answer isn't immediate, eyebrows furrowing and more concerned with how her stance seems to wobble in the window. She was always unsteady on her feet when they met; slippery bubbles can't be helping. But after a moment, Shikamaru remembers to smile.]

Hey, you got it. [He gives a thumbs up to the journal.]

Did you see a bucket anywhere?

[Her annoyed look disappears for a moment when Ariel peeks out (she hadn't been expecting anyone to own up since well, this is quite a mess) but the surprise that takes its place morphs back to annoyance again-- except that it isn't so frowny in this case.]

Is this... [yours?]

--a few more adjustments and it should... Hmm?

[Ginji's heading out of his apartment and tucking a wrench back into his tool belt when he encounters...bubbles! Slick floor! Not what he expected!! Fortunately, the freezing rain taught him a thing or two, and he manages to catch himself before he falls flat on his back.]

[But a sudsy floor is never a good thing, and it could cause some real trouble (and possible injuries) if it isn't cleaned up. So did the washing machine break down? Ginji checks the hallway and then makes his way into the kitchen where, as expected, the appliance is oozing foam.]

Oh, uh... [Wow, what a mess!] Do you need some help?
