One Seashell - Action

[When Ariel burst out of the sea, she had expected to still be in the water. What she wasn't expected was to be stuck up in a tree.

At least, she thinks it's called a tree. Whatever it is, she's stuck in it, and the ground is pretty far beneath her.

She leans over to cling to the trunk of the tree and stares down, wondering how she got up here and how to get down and - and is that... is that the ground?

Then she... She's on the land?

Ariel slowly looks over to her legs. Legs. Legs! She can't help stretching one out, and the shock on her face turns into elation. It worked! The spell worked! Oh, she has to find Eric now! She -

She's so happy that she very nearly falls out of the tree, and she holds tightly to the trunk again. Yeaaah, she should. Probably not move much right now, even for Eric.

Maybe someone will come along...]

Yeah, I think that's a good idea. [Nami's already shifting to glance around the store picking out clothing on a mental list.] Sanji-kun, you could leave this to us if you want. We can come get you when we're done. [Pack mule and all. Of course if he'd rather stay, she's not about to push him out the door.

Watch out, Ariel; she's started yanking things off shelves and making a pile. >_>]

Yeah, I think I'll leave you two ladies alone.

Make sure to call for me when you're finished~! [He'll just. Prance out the clothing store then, leaving the dress behind first. Don't worry, Ariel; you are in good hands]

[She gives Sanji a light wave, a little curious as to where he's going. But soon her attention is caught up by Nami and all of the clothing gathering she's doing. There's a big smile on Ariel's face as she watches, and she even moves to help - only to wobble and grab onto one of the clothing racks. Maybe staying put is a better idea...]

[Good lord, woman. Nami pokes her head around her growing pile of clothing and regards Ariel curiously.]

You're not used to walking, are you?

[She looks up from watching her feet once Nami speaks, and... with a sheepish smile and a bite of her lip, she shakes her head. Once she gets enough balance to let go with one hand, she uses it to make a flipping motion with her hand, as if mimicking how a dolphin swims. Or a mermaid, in this case.]

[Hey, some of her best friends are... wait, does not compute. Nami blinks.] You're a mermaid? You don't look that old...

[... Oh wow, Nami got it immediately. Sanji just guessed that she's used to swimming.

So she looks both surprised and confused as she lowers her hand slowly. Not that old? Who says one has to be old to be a mermaid? She's been one ever since she was a little baby.]

[Whereas Nami takes that confusion as fact that she's wrong and Ariel isn't a mermaid. 8| She raises a hand.] Uh, sorry. We have mermaids where we come from! But their tails split when they turn 30, so before that, they don't have feet. That's why. Sorry! [And she grins.] Didn't really mean to call you old.

...here. I'll put this pile in the dressing room for you. [And she vanishes with her bundle to the back of the shop, voice drifting back.] If you can manage it, come this way! Otherwise I'll give you a hand.

[Oh no - Ariel reaches out a hand to her and mouths "I am a mermaid!", but, of course, no sound comes out. Gah... Well, she'll have to try something else. First, she writes the same down on the notepad, before she flashes a brief smile towards Nami and begins her slow journey to the dressing room.

She doesn't have hands to hold on to, but she can do this. She can do this! She just has to hold on to the clothing racks as she walks. That's it, slowly, slowly...

FWUMP.

... So, it does take her quite some time to get back there. But she manages! And she gives a sheepish smile, because... well. She had knocked over a clothing display, and while she tried to set it back up as best as she could, it was still quite a mess.]

[Meanwhile Nami will just lay out these clothes so Ariel has easy access to them, and--

--did she just hear a FWUMP. She pokes her head back around the door and ...uh. Oh, well. Reeeally not used to walking at all, are you? She sighs, but it's good-natured. Well, good-natured for Nami. >>]

It gets easier with practice. Are you gonna be okay trying these on?

[Ariel is fixated on the clothes Nami has out for her, and it's because of her excitement that she shakes her head. She... probably does need help, but she's not really thinking of that at the moment. She just wants to try these clothes on! Real, human clothes!

Oh, but - she holds up a finger, and then steadies herself before she writes in the notepad. And after she writes, she grins and holds it out for Nami to read.]

"I am a mermaid! I was born a mermaid."

[...

Now please hold on to that notepad while she stumbles into the dressing room.]

[...brb staring at notepad with a blank look. Oh.

Well, mermaids don't always follow One Piece laws of physics. She should know that.]

Well, that explains a lot. You just changed, huh? No wonder you're having troub--

Ariel? Have you worn clothes before this?

[Yeah, she's going to just. Follow you into the dressing room now. 8D;; Oh god, another thought--]

Silly question, but do you know what underwear is?

[Judging how she shakes her head, but still manages to look excited? NOPE.

Well, if Nami can even see it under the dress she's trying to get on. Over her head. HELP HER, SHE IS LOST AMONGST A SEA OF CLOTH.]

[What Nami sees is a flail of cloth and a few wiggling fingertips buried in the collar of that thing, and she reaches out to help Ariel get it over her head, and she might be shaking with silent laughter at about this point. Now she can really see why Sanji called her in.]

Here, you put your arms through these smaller holes. [She'll grab the sleeve and tug it out straight.] And your hands come through at the end here.

[...yeah, she's just gonna take it on faith that you don't know what underwear is. 8|]

[Ah, yes, help has arrived! Ariel sends Nami a sheepish, yet grateful smile, before she looks down at the dress she's wearing.

She's... actually wearing human clothes! Oh sure, she tried to do it with clothes that people would drop overboard, but that isn't nearly the same as this. It feels... right. And though she hasn't looked at herself in the mirror, Ariel knows that she looks nice in it.

So, she grins and lifts up the edges of the skirt in something like an awkward curtsy. HEH. She would giggle if she could.]

[F-fff, you're adorable.] Very nice. [Nami helps straighten the dress and pull it down so it falls properly around her hips, and then steps back and wonders how to tackle this.] Basically, most clothing is the same! You can try on some of the simpler stuff, and I'll see if I can find you some...other important stuff. But if you run into trouble or get stuck, just wave a hand out the door!
