One Seashell - Action

[When Ariel burst out of the sea, she had expected to still be in the water. What she wasn't expected was to be stuck up in a tree.

At least, she thinks it's called a tree. Whatever it is, she's stuck in it, and the ground is pretty far beneath her.

She leans over to cling to the trunk of the tree and stares down, wondering how she got up here and how to get down and - and is that... is that the ground?

Then she... She's on the land?

Ariel slowly looks over to her legs. Legs. Legs! She can't help stretching one out, and the shock on her face turns into elation. It worked! The spell worked! Oh, she has to find Eric now! She -

She's so happy that she very nearly falls out of the tree, and she holds tightly to the trunk again. Yeaaah, she should. Probably not move much right now, even for Eric.

Maybe someone will come along...]

[That is a noble thing of you to do, Toothless, because even though Ariel's holding on, gravity seems to hate her right now. She loses her grip, and she opens her mouth in a silent yell as she falls.]

[dragoneer]

[Hiccup still lunges as he sees her falling, even with Toothless ready to break her fall. He mostly just ends up colliding with the dragon, but at least he's got her arm so she doesn't go sliding into the dirt, yay?

...Did she not even make a peep? Whoa, she's brave.]

Ahh--a-are you alright?

[lol oh Hiccup, YOU SAVED HER LIFE.

For a few seconds Ariel's got her eyes squeezed shut and a cringe on her face... But once she hears Hiccup, she opens one eye, then the other, and realizes that she's on the back of a dragon instead of sprawled on the ground.

She shuts her eyes and lets out a long sigh of relief, then looks up at him to nod. Yes, she's okay now... She even leans in to give him a kiss on the cheek as a symbol of thanks, seeing how she can't actually say so herself.

... And for that matter, she'll lean to the side and scoot up a bit to give Toothless a kiss on the top of his head, too. There you go. Thank you kisses for both boys.]

[Durrhurr. She just gave him a kiss.]

[She is going to think he's the biggest loser the way he's totally just frozen up here, isn't she? Just his luck. He catches a pretty girl, she thanks him with a kiss, and what does he do? HE FREAKS OUT.]

[SPEAK WORDS HICCUP. SAY THINGS. STOP BEING SO--

Hey, why is she being so quiet, anyway?]

UH--um. Hi! Hiiiii. Um. My name's...Hiccup. Uh...w-welcome? Yeah.

[Well while Hiccup's freaking out, Ariel just lets her fingers idly stroke behind Toothless' ear... horn... whatever that is. It's really fascinating; she never knew... lizards? Could get that big!

And once Hiccup finally speaks up, she looks at him with a smile. Heh heh, that's kind of adorable... And she opens her mouth to mouth "My name is..."]

[... Oh. Right.

She glances away, then lets out a soft sigh as she taps her throat, then shakes her head. Sorry, Hiccup, she can't exactly... say what her name is.]

[dragoneer]

[...Oh. Oh. She...doesn't have a voice? That was why she was being so quiet, then.

...But at least she can understand him. That's something! Oookay. Okay. Hiccup, you can figure this out.]

A-alright. Uhh...cold. Are you cold? We should get you into the village.

[upthere]

[... Village?

Well, that makes her expression light back up again. She looks curious for a second, before she gives a big smile and straightens up to nod vigorously. ... Although she does have to hold her arms, too. Yeah, it is pretty cold out here... Though it's not really as bad as how cold the sea can get.]

[dragoneer]

[He notices how cold she looks--duh, of course, Hiccup!--so he unzips his coat, shrugs it off, and offers it to her.]

Here. I'm used to the cold, anyway. I used to live in a place even colder than this all the time, soo...yeah. [He's a badass like that.]

[upthere]

[... Oh, thanks! She takes the coat and... wraps it up around her shoulders and doesn't get her arms in the holes at all. ... At least she's warm like that!

But enough of that: Ariel looks at him with a slight tilt of her head. Even colder? Where did he live?]

[dragoneer]

Berk--that's what my home was called. It's way up on the Northern seas, and it snows. A lot. Oh--and we have dragons there. Like Toothless.

[He gestures to the Night Fury padding along beside them.]

[upthere]

[Dragons... So that's what Toothless is. She gives an expression of understanding as she leans over to pass her hand behind Toothless' ear again. A dragon...! She thought they were just far off myths!

And now for another thing: She glances at Hiccup, then moves as much as she can to pick up the snow from the ground. It starts to melt already, and she's a little enthralled by that... But soon enough, she looks at Hiccup again, and mouths the word "snow?".]

[dragoneer]

[Toothless hums a bit at her touch. He likes this one. She's nice and smells good and isn't loud and obnoxious like boys are. He is on his best behavior.

It takes him a moment, but he figures out what she's getting at--has she never seen snow? Man, imagining a world without any snow is pretty strange.]

Yeah--yeah! That's snow. It's just like rain--but frozen. It only sticks around when it's cold, though. When it gets warmer in spring, it'll melt.

[upthere]

[Her expression turns into understanding, and she even squints slightly as she looks down at the snow again and runs a finger across it. So that's why it's melting... Her hand is warm, and snow melts in the warmth, right?

Well, now she has to bend over and gather more up in both hands. Frozen rain... It feels so slushy! Kind of like gathering up seaweed, only with a different texture and, of course, different temperature.

She packs the snow into a ball... and then she smiles, and tosses it at Hiccup. THINK FAST it was just instinct, really...!!]

[dragoneer]

[...AND GEEZ NOW SHE'S THROWING A SNOWBALL AT HIM? It's completely unexpected, so no measure of thinking fast gets him out of the way in time. The snowball hits him square in the chest, and he spends a second blinking--

So, that's how it's gonna be, huh?] ...Snowball fight?

[Toothless is already in action. He loves snow fights, man. He gathers up a dragon-sizes snowball.]

[Oh - well since Toothless is getting in on the action, Ariel slides off of him to sit on the snowy ground, watching what he's doing as she gathers up that same amount of snow. Is that what this is? A snowball? And a fight?

Well, she can get behind that. The snow is cold to the touch, but she still presses her lips together with a smile as she hefts up the snowball as best as she can and TOSSES IT.

... It doesn't travel far, though, considering its size.]

[Alas, it doesn't. But Toothless admires her effort and sticks his nose into the little pile it left behind. Hiccup has reservations about throwing a snowball at New Feather who is probably freezing and disoriented and can't even speak--but...

SCREW DAT this is fun. So he chucks a snowball at her--it's not very large. But still. Here it comes!]

[Ariel covers her mouth when Toothless does that in an effort to hide a laugh. Not that there's any sound coming from it anyway, but hey, it's automatic.

And she's so caught up in that that she doesn't see the snowball coming right at her. OH NO WHAT DOES SHE DO -

RIGHT IN THE FACE.

FALLING ON HER ELBOWS NOW. Jeez that's some cold stuff.]

[AH CRAP HE KNOCKED HER DOWN instant guilt. Hhjgasdgkdl;

Hiccup rushes over to help her up.]
