One Seashell - Action

[When Ariel burst out of the sea, she had expected to still be in the water. What she wasn't expected was to be stuck up in a tree.

At least, she thinks it's called a tree. Whatever it is, she's stuck in it, and the ground is pretty far beneath her.

She leans over to cling to the trunk of the tree and stares down, wondering how she got up here and how to get down and - and is that... is that the ground?

Then she... She's on the land?

Ariel slowly looks over to her legs. Legs. Legs! She can't help stretching one out, and the shock on her face turns into elation. It worked! The spell worked! Oh, she has to find Eric now! She -

She's so happy that she very nearly falls out of the tree, and she holds tightly to the trunk again. Yeaaah, she should. Probably not move much right now, even for Eric.

Maybe someone will come along...]

Okay! [ Madoka nods back, but.. then.. realises she can't really help either in this situation, right...

Well, she should help at least, yes! ]

Do you know how to climb a tree? If you.. um.. try to step down branch by branch, you should be able to get down more..!

[it's the red hair that catches his attention first. Honestly, there's something about the innocent awkwardness that reminds him instantly of Willow. He stops in his tracks, watching her uncertain reactions and taking in just how lost she looks before he ambles over, hands in his pockets]

Try shuffling your feet. If anyone asks, you can tell them you were ice skating.

[H-HOPEFULLY. At the sight of her slipping Hiccup starts to panic--but don't worry, Toothless has got this. He leans up against the tree, wings spread wide, a scaly pillow to break her fall should she indeed fall.]

[He thought she needed help... but how to do this? Should he climb up the tree - wait, that might make her fall before he got to her. He'll have to catch her.

Holding out his hairy arms awkwardly...] Ih... i-if you let go, I-I can catch you.

[Well, he meant what he said - except when Ariel's attention shifts, Sanji is forced to do some impromptu compensation for her swaying, and they both nearly stumble to the ground. Luckily he rights their balance before a tumble to the ground is in order.]

Aah... did something... happen to you, Miss? [Hell if he knows; maybe she's naturally clumsy, or Luceti did some weird shit to the poor thing. He wouldn't put either option past her.

[Even after she's spent a little while walking, it's still hard for Ariel to stand. Once he gestures, she leans forward to place her hands on the ground, then leans her weight on them as she slowly gets her feet under her and straightens out her legs. They wobble and shake, and once they're straight, she has to wave her arms in an effort not to fall.

But she manages it, and she... can't help staring at the coat for a second. What's he doing with it? Does he want her to...?

Ah, okay. Ariel gets it. She thinks. So, she slowly holds out her arms, though slowly, as if she's unsure if this is the right action or not.]

[Ariel looks at her with wide eyes and tilts her head a bit, as if she's wondering if the other girl is sure about this or not... But after a few seconds, she looks down at her feet, then maneuvers enough to take the couple of steps needed to lean on Ran Fan.

Oh, this is such a precarious balance act right now... but she still grips the other girl's shoulder with her free hand and smiles, as if she's excited about this. Maybe she can learn how to walk!]

[Step... down... branch by branch...?

Ariel isn't sure if she can do that. She looks down at the branches, then her legs, and she bites her lip and gives a nod as she shifts to try and do as she's told. If this were the sea, she'd have no problem jumping out. But she's pretty sure she wouldn't like falling right now.

Leaning her leg on the first branch feels odd. It's like trying to push your weight on a new limb that you've never had until now. Her leg shakes slightly, and she holds on tight to the branch she slid off of. Gah, she feels stuck already...]

[Ariel has her hands against the wall at this point, just trying to figure out how to balance by herself. It's one leg in front of the other, right... It seems easy when she watches other people do it, but as for doing so herself? It's a lot harder than she thought.

At the footsteps and the new voice, Ariel stops what she's doing to look at him. And she can't help looking confused, though she still smiles. She has never heard of ice skating before, or skating in general... But she does flex her toes a bit. Is that how one shuffles feet?]

[That is a noble thing of you to do, Toothless, because even though Ariel's holding on, gravity seems to hate her right now. She loses her grip, and she opens her mouth in a silent yell as she falls.]

[He tilts his head, watching her carefully; ready to catch her should she fall.] You alright there, luv? [Slowly, he slips on her coat one arm at a time, a bit awkwardly until he manages it. He looks at it, triumphant, rubbing his hands together.]

..You eat anything today? [Spike asks as something of an afterthought, thinking she might be shaking from hypoglycemia.]

[Let go? Goodness... If this were the sea, she'd have no trouble with that. But this is the land, and falling seems kind of dangerous up in a tree. Danger's never really stopped her before... but she's so unsure about how to use her legs and everything that she can't help feeling nervous.

She glances away, at her legs... then looks down at him again, frowns and bites her lower lip, but gives a determined smile all the same... and lets go, pushing off slightly with her shins. The fall makes her frown and the biting of her lip increase some, but she just hopes, and trusts, that this person - animal? - catches her.]

[fffff well goodness, her smile turns into a cringe when they have to find their balance again. This walking and balancing thing is a lot harder than it looks...

His question makes her look up at him again, and... her head lowers a little as she seems to just pause. She's not sure how to say this... "I was once a mermaid, but I got turned into a human"? She's not sure if a human would ever believe that. But it's... pretty obvious that something is wrong, at least.

She bites her lower lip a little, and she... gives a slow, unsure nod. And - well, Ariel figures she ought to try to explain. This person's been so kind so far.

So, she lets go of one hand, though her hand hovers a little with uncertainty over her balance, and then she gestures to her legs before she moves her hand in a wave motion, as if to describe swimming with a dolphin's tail, or even a mermaid's tail. Next, she pats her throat and brings her hand outward, trying to indicate that her voice was taken as well.]

[The term makes her smile, though in a somewhat flustered way. No one's really called her that before... But it's a nice thing to say. Now if only she could find Eric and get him to say it.

... The thought of Eric worries her, but she tries not to dwell on it. Instead, she wraps her arms around the coat once it's on, then looks at him again once he asks that question. Now that she thinks about it...

She shakes her head, her smile a little helpless. She's kind of hungry, too, since he mentioned it...]

[With such sad, unsure faces being pointed at him, Sanji nearly insists she not listen to his invasive rambling. The last thing he wants to do is overstep a boundary.

Which is why he's somewhat surprised at her willingness to explain... or attempt, if nothing else. The first part is simple enough, and he nods. Something bad happened. The gesture following after that... alright, something to do with her legs, and he's a pirate, so the first guess is:] Swimming?

[... as for the throat part, that too warrants a guess that's right and wrong at the same time] You lost your voice while swimming? [Sanji's interpretation: a girl who's more at home in the water than on land, and lost her voice in some accident. So now she's dealing with a case of sea legs]

[And indeed he does, quite easily. This is the moment when he notices how much hair she has... and how light she is. Makes him think of when he carried Rapunzel - no, that's too sad to think about.]

... Y-you alright?

[Such a weird girl.]

What happened to your legs? Were you injured?

[Spike sighs, waving for her to follow after. It would just figure that she's mute too.] Sorry, I uh. Don't know sign language or any of that rot.

[Hiccup still lunges as he sees her falling, even with Toothless ready to break her fall. He mostly just ends up colliding with the dragon, but at least he's got her arm so she doesn't go sliding into the dirt, yay?

...Did she not even make a peep? Whoa, she's brave.]

Ahh--a-are you alright?

[Obi-Wan tries his best to smile a nonthreatening smile as he waves back. Oh, blast, she might not even understand him.]

"Would you like some help?"

Ah...sorry. Guess that was kinda-- oi. [He holds her steady, to keep her balance and make sure she doesn't fall.]

Are you okay?

[She nods at the swimming, though her smile turns... kind of sheepish at his next guess. It's sort of half right and half wrong. After all, how else is she supposed to say "I signed a contract to have a sea witch use magic to turn me into a human"?

But hey, Ariel's a trooper. She'll try anyway, by putting her hand by her hip and wiggling her fingers to try and show Ursula's tentacles, then bringing her hand up to make that same motion, to show some kind of term for "magic" -

Except she pulled her other hand out of his to do this with both of them, and that plus the sudden movement of her hands just reminds her that no, the air above the sea is not buoyant, and she tips forward as a result. Good thing he's right there for her to grab on to!]

[There is a lot of finger wiggling going on up in here. Sanji's gonna start thinking she's putting a spell on him.

He understands he's only half-right, once again using her facial expressions as the main guide while he watches intently.] So swimming with... hip... wigglers...? [Not tentacles, because that is silly.

And he's more than ready to catch her when she topples. Again. This boy has the script memorized at last. He's also okay with helping a pretty girl who has just smacked into him. Because fuck yeah.]

[Ehem. Moving on.]

How about we practice walking a bit more, eh? Then you can explain everything later! [He nods behind him] There's a town close to here. We'll get you some clothes, shoes, food... everything befitting of a beautiful princess~!

At least, that's pretty much what she's saying with her expression, as she stares at him with wide eyes and a gape. SHE DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING. COULDN'T EVEN.]
